Who is a suitable MathRiders teacher?

Our teachers come from an astonishing variety of professional and cultural backgrounds, but they all share qualities that are vital to the MathRiders ethos: a love of learning, and a solid grounding in mathematical concepts; the ability to connect with and understand children; and the ability to persevere in motivating children towards achieving their full potential while having fun.

What qualifications do I need?

  • In order to teach students aged 4-11, you need to have achieved high scores in your secondary school exams (or equivalent).
  • In order to teach students aged 11-18, you need to have studied mathematics or a related subject (science, IT, engineering, etc.) at university level.
  • Applicants must also pass the MathRiders entrance exam before being accepted into the teacher training program.

How do I apply?

Once you have read the general information contained here, you can:
  1. Complete and submit an Application Form, or
  2. Contact a Master Franchisee or a Local Learning Center.
  3. Meet with us for a friendly interview.
  4. Take the MathRiders entrance exam at your convenience.
  5. Attend a Teacher Training Course.
  6. Start work as a certified and fully-trained MathRiders teacher.
  7. Keep your skills up-to-date through regular seminars, workshops, and updates.

What does the MathRiders training include?

Every teacher receives comprehensive training in all MathRiders teaching methods and learning materials. The special courses work in similar ways to the MathRiders courses for children, combining group work with individual study and attention. Once you qualify as a MathRiders teacher, the learning process continues through online updates and our vibrant interactive network.

How big are MathRiders classes, and how many will I teach?

Classes include 5-8 students, with no more than a two-year spread in ages. Giving each student individual attention is one of the fundamental tenets of the MathRiders approach.

You are permitted to teach as many classes as you like, but you must bear in mind that you cannot compromise on the quality of your teaching. Every teacher must adhere to MathRiders' high standards. We carry out teacher reviews regularly, and ensure that you receive as much support as you need to do your job effectively.
